FIRST PUBLIC MEETING FOR
ZELIENOPLE’S HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN
The Borough of Zelienople is hosting an open public meeting to introduce and gather input for a Historic Preservation Plan being developed for the Borough. The meeting will take place on Tuesday September 24, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Zelienople Borough Building, Council Chambers, Second Floor, 111 West New Castle Street, Zelienople, PA 16062. Everyone with interest in preserving and improving the Borough’s historic assets is invited to attend.
Input also can be provided by taking an online survey posted at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZelienopleHP, which will be available through the end of October.
The Preservation Plan’s process will begin by studying the existing condition of Zelienople’s historic properties and gathering input from property owners, business owners, community members, and Borough leaders. The study will examine opportunities to preserve Zelienople’s historic character and use its historic resources to attract economic investment and other benefits. The meeting on September 24th invites the public at large to learn about the planning process and provide the Borough and its consultant team with historic preservation ideas.
September’s meeting will be the first in a series of meetings within the next few months. The purpose of the second meeting will be to gather feedback on a draft of the Preservation Plan. The planning process will end in early 2020 with the publication and approval of a final Borough-wide Historic Preservation Plan. The Plan will be prepared by the consulting firm T&B Planning, Inc., which the Borough has hired with support by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC), a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
