MAIN STREET STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

7/13/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

For the week of July 10th-14th
A continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation.  Concrete curb and sidewalk installation proceeded behind the utility installations.

Parking restrictions were in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and/or construction vehicles.

HORSE TRADING DAYS!!

On July 12th the contractor completed work for the week and had excavated areas filled and leveled with stone backfill.  All construction equipment, signs and delineators not necessary were removed.

For the week of July 17-21, 2017

Continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation.

Curb and sidewalk concrete installations will continue behind utility excavations.

Stamped concrete will begin in some areas. Areas to be determined by the contractor. Color selection has been given to the contractor and the Borough has approve a poured sample.  We are looking to match the brick pavers used in the walkways to and from the Town Center Parking Lot.

6/30/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

Concrete installation was completed in all areas that required no additional work. Two areas that need additional electrical equipment were backfilled with stone and compacted for pedestrian safety. Areas of proposed stamped concrete were also backfilled with stone and compacted. Areas along the curb which will require final paving have been backfilled and compacted for safety of traffic and pedestrians ahead of the 4th of July Parade. The driveway access to Harper’s Outdoor Power Equipment will remain closed to traffic while concrete cures. Barricades and delineators will remain in place through July 5th.

For the week of July 3rd-7th:
July 3rd will be used to continue to work in currently disturbed areas and to clean up for the July 4th festivities. NO WORK IS SCHEDULED
July 4th NO WORK PERMITTED
July 5th-7th, continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk for electric and communication utility installation. Concrete installation as applicable. Parking restriction will be in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and construction vehicles. Additional temporary parking restrictions will occur when concrete is placed. Stamped concrete is not on the contractor’s schedule, the contractor is waiting to have enough area for a significant pour to try to minimize the variations in the dying and stamping process. Color selection has been given to the contractor and the Borough will approve a poured sample prior to installation. We are looking to match the brick pavers used in the walkways to and from the Town Center Parking Lot.

6/22/17 STREETSCAPE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

June 13-22, 2017 Approximately 122’ of sidewalk and curb has been removed and underground utilities are currently being installed. Temporary access has been provided to businesses with plywood and a handrail and ramps leading to the parking lane have been installed to a 4’ delineated walkway. (“Sidewalk Closed” signage remains for PennDOT and ADA compliance) Preparations for concrete installation (curb and sidewalk) have begun on the north and south corners of E. Spring Street. A slight delay was encountered with the design of a curb ramp and conditions found in the field, however, PennDOT has approved the redesigned ramp. Concrete installation is scheduled starting Monday, June 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th. Stamped concrete has been removed from the driveways to provide a level of safety for both pedestrians and motorist and will be replaced with a broom finish. This will be consistent with the project. For the week of July 3rd-7th July 3rd will be used to continue to work in currently disturbed areas and to clean up for the July 4th festivities. NO ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION IS SCHEDULED July 4th NO WORK PERMITTED July 5th-7th, continuation of demolition of curb and sidewalk and utility installation. Concrete installation as applicable. Parking restriction will be in place as necessary along Main Street to provide the temporary walkway and construction vehicles. Updates on parking will be provided next week with further discussion with M&B.
