Skilled
Worker Needed in Public Works
The Borough of Zelienople is
seeking to fill a part-time position, which
requires skilled manual work in the operation
and maintenance of the Borough’s Water,
Electric, and Street Departments. The nature of
the work requires physical effort and extended
periods of manual labor. Base wage rate is
$10.00 per hour; estimated 38 hours per week;
benefits not included. High school diploma or
equivalent required. Applications can be picked
up, in person, at the Zelienople Municipal
Building during regular business hours.

Hydrant
Flushing/Change in Disinfectant
The Zelienople
Water Department will be flushing the
distribution system for routine maintenance
between the hours of midnight and 8:00 am
beginning on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 through
Friday, June 1, 2012. Beaver Falls
Municipal Authority will be changing
disinfectants during the routine maintenance
from May 21st through mid-June. You can expect
to see changes to your drinking water during
this time.

Downtown Revitalization/Improvement Project
Meeting
There was a
public meeting on Thursday, May 10, 2012 for the presentation of Design
Concepts for the Downtown
Improvement/Revitalization project.

Brush Pile
Pick Up
Brush pile pick up will resume on April 2nd.
Please note that only tree limbs (6" diameter or
smaller) will be picked up. NO GARDEN DEBRIS.
Call the Borough Office at (724) 452-6610 to
schedule a pick up.
Burning
Ordinance
Please be aware
that only recreational burning/bonfires and
container burning is permitted within the
Borough of Zelienople. All burning may not
be more than five (5) feet in diameter and not
more than five (5) feet in height and shall not
burn longer than three (3) hours.
Container burning is permitted only on Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturdays, holidays excluded;
whereas, recreational burning/bonfires are
permitted any day. Refuse burning (burning
of plastics, Styrofoam, building materials
(except wood), tires, leaves, petroleum,
garbage, etc.) is prohibited. Container
burning shall not occur before dawn and must be
extinguished one hour before sunset. All
burning shall not be less than fifty (50) feet
from any structure, excluding charcoal and gas
grills. All recreational burning/bonfires
must be supervised at all times by a competent
adult.

Reminder
to Zelienople Residents
Borough Ordinance #466 requires residents to
keep their lawns mowed and maintained during the
growing season. Grass and Weeds are not to
exceed 6 inches in height.
Zelienople
Community Park Tennis & Basketball Court
Renovation Fund Drive
The Zelienople
Community Park is announcing a fund drive to
revitalize the tennis/basketball court area in
the park. Our goal is to make all the
necessary renovation and repairs so that we will
be able to host events, tournaments and run
youth tennis and basketball camps. We need
to raise $100,000 to completely redo the tennis
courts and basketball area. This project
is projected to be finished by June of 2013,
depending on how much money is raised of course.

Summer
Help Needed
The Borough of
Zelienople is accepting applications for the
position of temporary seasonal laborer(s) for
the period of May 2012 through August 31, 2012.
The starting hourly rate of pay for this
position is $7.50. Applicant should have a high
school diploma or equivalent. Applicant should
possess a valid driver’s license. Applications
will be accepted through April 30, 2012 at 4:00
p.m. Applications will not be mailed out to
prospective applicants. Applications can be
obtained during regular business hours at the
Zelienople Municipal Bldg, 111 W New Castle St,
Zelienople, PA 16063. EEO/AA.
Robert C.
Edwards Foundation Scholarship
The Robert C. Edwards
Scholarship Foundation will present a $1,000
Scholarship to selected students in each of the
six (6) Districts of the Pennsylvania State
Association of Boroughs (PSAB). Applicant
must be from a Borough which is a member of the
PSAB and must be accepted for admission to an
accredited College, University or School which
offers a two or four year degree/certificate
program. The scholarship is for the first
year of College, University or School.

Community
Park Rules & Regulations
Amendments to the park rules
and regulations were approved on July 25, 2011.
Amendments were made to the park hours,
amplification and sound systems, tobacco free
zone, and to an age 12 and under play zone.
